Plasticine is great for use as a mould for plaster, as it is water resistant and can be easily peeled away when the object is set. It is mouldable enough to create a character, flexible enough to allow the character to move in many ways, and dense enough that it can retain its shape easily when combined with wire. Plasticine never dries out, so the more children work it and warm it, the softer it gets. Then let it sit for a while and it firms up again.
