This nesting set of solid beechwood square frames supports construction, spatial reasoning and imaginative design through open-ended play. Children can stack, nest and align the shapes to build towers, create enclosures or design structured layouts, developing an understanding of balance, symmetry and form as they explore.
The square shapes provide clear opportunities for sorting, comparing and organising by size and colour, while also introducing mathematical language such as larger, smaller and wider. The open frames can be used to create defined spaces for small-world play or to display and sort loose parts.
Each piece is finished to highlight the natural wood grain and coloured in the seven tones of the rainbow, with a solid inner block included in each nesting set. Heights range from approximately 148mm to 40mm, all with a 40mm depth, offering a clear progression in size.
EYLF Learning Outcome Connections
Outcome 4.2: Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry and experimentation as they build, nest and explore spatial relationships.
Outcome 4.4: Children resource their own learning through connecting with materials as they design and construct with intention.
Outcome 5.4: Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work as they explore shape, size and spatial relationships.
