Journeys is an Australia design recycled mat, in rich burgundy red and cream, great for classroom use. It was created by Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales and depicts tribal journeys between campsites. Symbols include men, women, campsites and travel routes, with different communities separate but interconnected. The Journeys design allows you to bring diversity education into your early learning centre, library or playroom with ease. People of all ages can learn more about their own and other cultures while they read, eat or play on a colourful indoor or outdoor rug. Like all recycled mats, it's a handy introduction to Indigenous symbolism in art and opens us up to the world of storytelling through pictures. Journeys is made from an innovative material, created from repurposed shopping bags and food containers. These mats ensure you are celebrating the planet as well as multiculturalism. The Journeys mat is light enough to carry or fold-up for transport or storage, so you can move it from your art space or reading corner to a shady spot outside at lunch time. It's soft and comfortable, but equally sturdy. Keep your class guessing by flipping these reversible mats to enjoy two different colour combinations. All Aboriginal Design Recycled Mats have been created by Indigenous Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists under the guidelines of the Indigenous Art Code that promotes authentic, fair and ethical trade in artwork & allows for transparent processes around the production and sale of artwork.

These double-sided mats are designed using Indigenous symbols, the symbols are used as a form of communication, a way to tell a story, instruction or direction. The versatility, light weight durability of the recycled polypropylene play mats are only enhanced by how easy they are to keep clean. Simply vacuum up the spills, give the mat a quick wash with soapy water, then toss over the line to dry. Great for use outdoors, however do not leave in direct sunlight or rain full time due to UV exposure. Store clean and dry.
