A beautifully crafted auditory resource that invites children to explore sound, matching and listening through sensory play. Each pair of prisms produces a distinct percussive or musical sound, encouraging careful listening and comparison.
Children can shake and match the 6 sound pairs using auditory cues, developing listening skills and sound discrimination. The colour-coded musical note symbols provide an optional visual guide, while the ability to turn the prisms upside down adds an extra challenge. As children engage with the set, they build concentration, memory and fine motor control.
Crafted from hardwood, the set includes 12 triangular prisms (6 matching pairs), each measuring approximately 50 x 60mm.
EYLF Learning Outcome Connections
Outcome 3.2: Children develop coordination and control as they grasp, shake and manipulate the prisms.
Outcome 4.1: Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity and concentration as they explore sound and listening.
Outcome 4.2: Children develop a range of skills such as memory, matching and auditory discrimination.
