This nesting set of solid beechwood rectangular frames supports construction, spatial exploration and imaginative design through open-ended play. Children can stack, nest and arrange the shapes to build towers, enclosures and layered structures, developing an understanding of size, scale and balance as they experiment with different configurations.
The open frames invite creative use, from designing small-world environments to sorting and organising loose parts by colour, size or shape. As children compare and manipulate each piece, they are introduced to mathematical language such as taller, wider and smaller, while also strengthening problem-solving and descriptive skills. Each piece is finished to highlight the natural wood grain and coloured in the seven tones of the rainbow, with a solid inner block included in each nesting set. Heights range from approximately 148mm to 40mm, all with a 40mm depth, offering clear visual progression in size.
EYLF Learning Outcome Connections
Outcome 4.2: Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry and experimentation as they build, nest and explore spatial relationships.
Outcome 4.4: Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials as they design and construct imaginative structures.
Outcome 5.4: Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work as they explore size, shape and mathematical language through play.
